Like many Australians, I was saddened last week to learn of the death of James Valentine. To many he has been the voice of ABC Radio Sydney's afternoon program. But as a child of the 80s, James will always be the saxophone player of the Models.
I was a groupie and saw the band perform at pubs, clubs and university campuses across Brisbane. James was only 64 which is far too young but is legacy is huge. All the words written about him in the last week mention hid kindness, his love of family and his great mind.
Every occasion was made better when James was there, the tributes said. In the end, doing what you love with the people you love is what life is about. So today I was out doing just that ... lunch with my mother and sisters. It rained but not on our parade.
*note. As a Models mega fan I am aware that the album The Pleasure of Your Company was not in the James Valentine Models era.
