Of all the dates on the annual calendar, Mother's Day is probably the most cynical Hallmark occasion.
Don't get me wrong, mothering is hard and should be celebrated and I feel so, so fortunate to still have my mum in my life.
But it is more than a little sad that we need a special day to remind us to tell mum we love her. Still, I'm not going to let an opportunity for a lunch and a gift pass me by. So my siblings and I gathered with mum at her favourite pub for lunch. All the mums were given a candle and lobster tails were on offer as a meal upgrade. Don't mind if I do
