May 17. Day 28. Seen a cockatoo

Because I am old, I remember Australian comedy when it was very bloke dominated and pretty lowest common denominator. Think Kevin Bloody Wilson and Austentatious whose comedy was filled with slightly rude Australian puns. "I bet she's seen a cockatoo"
But this year at the Brisbane Comedy Festival it has been all the girls and comedy that I would describe as unexpected, clever and fine examples of a well crafted joke.

Still it was going out on a limb to see something called "The Dog Dies at the Start". To turn the death of a pet into something that is charming, thought-provoking and most of all funny is a real triumph. There were no cheap puns here just wit and wisdom enough to convince a crazy dog lady still mourning the loss of her baby Rumple.
Of course, it had me thinking about the two fur babies at home and the trip to the dog park this afternoon where we managed to avoid the rain ... just.
There is nothing funny about picking up dog poo but the fact we humans do it is a sign of just how much love we have for our fur babies... and the great big hole in our hearts they leave when they are gone
