Day 2. April 21. Time and tide

I'm leading a double life, each with its own rhythms, routines and rituals.

City Susan lives in Brisbane where she spends quite a lot of time at the theatre and either her or one of the tribe is attending some kind of medical appointment.

Sandy Susan loves to walk the dogs along the beach, taking photos and staring out at the ocean.

The notion of time is measured differently in each domain. City time is by the clock. Shows and surgeries wait for no man or woman. Beach time is determined by the tides, sun rise and sunsets and the occasional happy hour. Whatever the time, we are operating on, there is always time for an afternoon nap. That's not negotiable.

And, of course, time must always be made to be a responsible dog owner. The dogs need walking and picking up after. On the island, that means the beach. In the city, that's not as easy. My dogs do not like dog parks because they do not consider themselves dogs. So today it was the off leash area along Kedron Brook. Kodak had never been there before and I was a tiny bit worried he would have a Kodak Moment and charge off into the distance. Fortunately he was a very good boy (if you can ignore the big muddy puddle) and was as happy as a pig in shit. And if the dogs are happy, the crazy dog lady is happy no matter what time zone we are in

May 5. Day 16. Reflections of me

They say pets come to look like their owners or vice versa.
